Analyzing the prospective primary school teachers' satisfaction level and their perception of future expectation: Mersin University sample

Abstract
This study has been conducted to evaluate the satisfaction and future expectation level of 228 prospective teachers at department of primary school teaching at faculty of education and to determine the level and direction of their relationship. The sample of the study which has been patterned as the descriptive survey method comprises 228 students of Primary School Teaching Department at the Faculty of Education of Mersin University. The study was conducted in the Fall Term of 2015-2016 Academic Year. In the study, "student satisfaction scale" and "student future expectation scale" were used as data collection instruments. T-test and ANOVA test were used for comparison of demographic characteristics to investigate whether the prospective teachers' responses to the satisfaction and future expectation scales differ according to their gender or grade. According to the results of satisfaction scale, the prospective teachers show the highest rate of agreement with the statement that school provides them experience, whereas the statement about the adequacy of the physical infrastructure of school obtain the lowest rate of agreement. According to the class grade variable, significant differences have been found in the satisfaction from school dimension (F=4.70; p<.05), satisfaction from education dimension (F=3.88; p<.05). A significant difference has not been noticed according to gender variable. In accordance with the results of future expectation scale, a significant difference has not been found according to gender variable (p>.05) and class grade variable (F=.207; p>.05). Furthermore, in this study regression analysis has been applied to identify whether the prospective teachers' satisfaction level is a predictive factor of future expectation. In the study, results reveal that student satisfaction ratio is %19 and it is a significant variable predicting student future expectation positively.
